June 1999 Murdered in the dead of night
Many people know the story of Shorty Shea lying along the road dead for several years, buried in a shallow grave by the Manson Family, but he was not the only person to be killed here. There is also a pattern of people ending up
In the 1800s, a stagecoach was robbed near Stony Point along Santa Susana Pass Road and the robber was shot. He rode up into the hills and buried the gold. He then rode down to his girlfriend's house and told her what I told you, and then he died. Years later after she died, the info was discovered in her diary.
There are a couple of stories that differ, in one, the amount was $65,000 in gold, the other was $5,000. The robber was also said to be a ranch hand of the girl who he was involved with. He is said to be Indian, and then in another story he is Mexican. He split the saddle bags full of gold in two and buried one half on each side of the spring, then rode off. The gold was never found.
Shorty was killed at about 10 o'clock at night, under a full moon, a feet up stream from the ranch and not the mile or so down Santa Susanna Pass Road .

A cardboard box sealed with duct tape and found at the bottom of a ravine in the Santa Susana Pass early Friday morning contained the body of a 28-year-old Glendale woman who disappeared last week, officials said.
Shortly before firefighters found the box, police arrested Roy Shivers (born July 5,1941 in Halley, Arkansas) last seen on the evening of Aug. 8 with Shivers, her former boyfriend, authorities said. Items found at Shivers' home led police to the grisly discovery at the bottom of a 100-foot remote ravine along Santa Susana Pass Road.
